— Witches' Day —
Halloween
It may seem harmless, but it can have serious consequences...
Where did
Halloween come from
Halloween comes from a Celtic tradition in Ireland. It was called Samhain, “day of the dead.”
They believed that, on that night, spirits returned to Earth, and they performed rituals and sacrifices to ward off evil.
Today, the ancient bonfires and masks have become costumes, skulls, and witches. But the origin remains the same: invoking the spirits of darkness.
The danger
Deuteronomy 18:10–12 “There shall not be found among you ... one who practices witchcraft ... or one who calls up the dead.”
During this time of year, some people invoke spirits and practice occult rituals.
Even those who take part “just for fun” can be affected. Children, in particular, are the most vulnerable.
Fear and terror do not come from God.
What does God
think about this?
God is not pleased with this celebration, which invokes fear and evil. The Bible says that He is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I have come that they may have life.”
Halloween celebrates death and darkness, while God offers peace and life.
Taking part in these celebrations is like opening the wrong door. But the good news is that light always overcomes darkness.
Solution
Jesus Christ came to the Earth to set us free from the power of darkness. He defeated the devil and all fear.
You can receive Jesus in your life right now. Pray this prayer:
Your Word says: ‘the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out’ (John 6:37).
I believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord, that He died for me on the Cross to save me.
Jesus, I now give You my life and receive You as my Lord and Savior.
Thank You, Jesus, for saving me! Amen.”
